Life then intervened and I've been too busy to even buy apples, let alone peel them. But finally, this week I scored a good deal on some local apples and had the twenty minutes that I needed to get them peeled and in the crock-pot.
I have to say, I wish someone would have told me about this sooner! For about the same amount of money that I would spend getting a jar of applesauce on sale, I instead made my own chunky sauce and know exactly what went into it.
This is a MUST if you can get organic apples on sale, or if you happen to be blessed to have a tree of your own.
For a recipe, I simply Google'd "Crockpot Applesauce" until I found one that sounded good. Here is the recipe I used: Easy Slow Cooker Applesauce
